Virginia City is a town frozen in time. Founded in 1863 during the Alder Gulch Gold Rush, it served as the territorial capital of Montana for a decade.
Today, it stands as a National Historic Landmark, with over 100 historic buildings preserved in their original state. Visitors can ride the stagecoach, pan for gold, and experience the Wild West just as it was over 150 years ago.
Beyond the history, the area offers incredible outdoor recreation, including blue-ribbon trout fishing in the Madison River and endless hiking trails in the surrounding mountains.
